Abstract
A sedentary lifestyle commonly known as lazy movement has serious impact on health. One of diseases is diabetes mellitus which is characterized by high blood glucose levels. Nursing students spend most of their activities and time by sitting or lying down. The purpose of this study was to find relationship between sedentary lifestyle and blood glucose levels of nursing students. The research design was cross sectional with 100 subjects. Sedentary lifestyle was measured by The Adolescent Sedentary Activity Questioner. Blood glucose measured by glucometer. Data analysis using Pearson correlation test. The results of the analysis were p = 0.002 (p<0.05) which showed that the correlation between sedentary lifestyle and blood glucose of nursing students was significant. The higher sedentary lifestyle, the higher blood sugar value of nursing students. Reducing sedentary behavior and increasing physical activity can reduce the risk of non-communicable diseases, especially diabetes mellitus.
