Abstract
All forms of organization including student organizations must demonstrated optimal performance. However, communication becomes a problem that can hinder the achievement of it. Communication needs to be built not only as a formal medium for conveying messages, but also, there is a need for meaningfulness in carrying out the process, called as positive communication. This study aims to determine the effect of positive communication on job performance in university student organizations in Surabaya. The research method uses a quantitative approach, and the all student organization members were taken as a participant. Positive Communication Scale and Job Performance Scale are used as data collection methods. Regression Analysis was used for analytical method. Descriptively, job performance and positive communication are in the low-medium category. The results showed a significant positive effect between positive communications on job performance in student organizations. Positive communication brought effect to job performance, but there were still other factors that could affect it. Student Organizers need to do a number of sustainability developments, especially in improving the ability of positive communication within the organization. The university through the accompanying lecturers can also facilitate the development of positive communication through development programs such as communication training.
