Abstract

Penelitian ini menunjukkan mengenai bagaimana penggambaran para kaum LGBT dalam sebuah media, khususnya pada video musik milik Demi Lovato yang berjudul Really Don’t Care. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode semiotika model Charles Sanders Peirce untuk melihat bagaimana penggambaran kaum LGBT melalui analisis interpretasi Icon, Index, dan Symbol. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teori mengenai representasi, video musik, LGBT dalam media dan yang pasti adalah teori semiotika. Melalui analisa interpretasi icon ,index dan symbol pada video musik tersebut, peneliti menemukan bahwa kelompok LGBT digambarkan sebagai kelompok yang berjuang mengekspresikan diri mereka. Ekspresi tersebut tampak dalam berbagai bentuk seperti fashion, artefak, dan perilaku seksual mereka.
