Abstract

Sustainable good performance is something that all companies intend to have it. Therefore, every company will put a high effort to become sustainable good performance company. There are 2 (two) big different well known theories of company strategy in getting good performance. Those theories are Industrial Organization theory called I/O and Resources Based View theory called RBV. Industrial organization theory argues that company performance depends on industry condition where the company is. If the industry performance is good then the company will also be good and vice versa. While Resource Based View theory argues that company performance depends on its own resources and will not depend on industry performance at all. Contingency theory is a theory that bridges these 2 (two) poles with a different perspective. This contingency theory assumes that company performance depends on the synchronization of organization factor and their environment. This research is aimed to analyze contingency model consisting of mediation impact of continuous improvement capability in association of strategic leadership, organization structure and company performance and also the moderating impact of company environment dynamism with study on big manufacturing companies in Indonesia. This research has 202 samples of big manufacturing companies in Indonesia with a manager or having higher position in the organizational hierarchy as research respondents were taken using simple random sampling. The collected data were analyzed by using descriptive statistic analysis and Structural Equation Modeling using AMOS software. Confirmatory Factor Analysis was done to get to know the validity and reliability of dimensions. Research analysis has proven 6 (six) hypotheses as research findings. They are (1) Strategic leadership has significant and positive impact on continuous improvement capability, (2) Organization structure has significant and positive impact on continuous improvement capability, (3) Continuous improvement capability has significant and positive impact on company performance, (4) Continuous improvement capability has significant and positive impact as mediator in association of strategic leadership and company performance, (5) Continuous improvement capability has significant and positive impact as mediator in association of organization structure and company performance and (6) Company environment dynamism has significant and positive moderation impact on association of Continuous improvement capability and Company performance.
