Abstract
Empowerment is basically an effort to provide power/authority or to equip with ability. The empowerment program conducted by Widya Mandala Surabaya Catholic University (WMCUS) aims to: (1) shit the mindset ofthe community on healthy life style; (2) improve the quality of their life environment; (3) improve their economic life skill as one of the economic groups, (4) increase their participation in developing their social institutions; ~nd(S) increase their utonomy/independence in using optimally the available resources based on their social and cultural condition. This empowerment program is beneficial to help actualize the community s autonomy in doing their economic activities through the well-organized institutions to make their life economically better and their life environment healthier. Under the commitment of sustainable synergy, this empowerment program which currently can only focus on the selected entity will be extended to also cover the other entities living in Sukolilo Baru Sub-district, Bulak District, Surabaya.
