Abstract

This paper is a summary of though from the focus group discussion conducted by National Law Commission-Republic Indonesia (KHN-RI) regarding Corporate Social Responsibility. The debate of CSR programs and the urgency of companies in Indonesia to adopt this program raise several discussions among participants whether corporate social responsibility as the way to solve the problem of wealth distribution is still disputing to be measure directly the effectiveness or it is just a placement of companies to become look more ethic and moral in running their business practices. This paper will briefly stress the implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program and the substantive of CSR program towards wealth transfer to society through CSR program announcement. Theoretically, announcement can be read as a information that affect investors or stakeholders decision. By looking the substantive content of CSR program report, we can distinguish the corporate social responsibility and corporate social (ir) responsibility as well as information signal cost that corporation should pay to increase their value. Lastly, the recommendation to KHN could help government to revisit the implementation of CSR towards the wealth of society.
