Abstract

Asam tereftalat merupakan bahan baku yang digunakan pada proses produksi polimer, yaitu polietilen tereftalat (PET). PET biasa digunakan dalam pembuatan kemasan berbahan plastik, seperti botol minuman dan kemasan makanan, serta dapat digunakan juga pada industri tekstil. Proses pembuatan asam tereftalat dimulai dengan membuat produk intermediet berupa para-Xylene (p-Xylene) yang diperoleh melalui proses metilasi toluena dengan katalis B/ZSM-5, p-Xylene selanjutnya dioksidasi dengan pelarut asam asetat, katalis kobalt asetat, dan promotor 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium bromida sehingga menghasilkan produk asam tereftalat dengan kemurnian 99,06%. Prarencana Pabrik Asam Tereftalat dari Toluena dan Metanol ini memiliki rincian sebagai berikut: Bentuk perusahaan : Perseroan Terbatas (PT). Produksi : Asam tereftalat. Kapasitas produksi : 100.000 ton/tahun. Waktu operasi : 330 hari/tahun. Bahan baku utama : Metanol dan toluena. Kebutuhan bahan baku : Metanol = 19.480,7061 ton/tahun. Toluena = 55.919,3105 ton/tahun. Utilitas : Air = 31.489,6389 m3/hari. Listrik = 2.086,4152 kWh. IDO = 71.343,3991 m3/hari. Metana = 6.028,5018. ton/tahun. Udara = 73.393,7335 ton/tahun. Jumlah tenaga kerja : 138 orang. Lokasi pabrik : Kawasan Industri Krakatau, Kecamatan Purwakarta, Kota Cilegon, Provinsi Banten. Berdasarkan analisa yang telah dilakukan, didapatkan data sebagai berikut: Fixed Capital Investment (FCI) : Rp 828.966.559.060. Working Capital Investment (WCI) : Rp 1.004.301.983.090. Total Production Cost (TPC) : Rp 1.362.081.146.457.
