Abstract

The effect of Syzygium polyanthum (SP) water fraction in the innate immunity of male Wistar rats with Staphylococcus aureus (SA) induced have been conducted. Fifteen Wistar rats were divided into 3 groups of five; negative control group (treated by 0.9 % NaC/); treatment group (treated by SP water fraction 200 mgl kg BW); and positive control group (treated by ibuprofen 400 mglkg BW). The treated rats were terminated an hour after SA induction. Neutrophils was measured under light microscope and IL-6 level was analyzed by ELISA. The statistical analysis indicated that SP water fraction does not decrease number of neutrophils and IL-6 level on SA-induced male Wistar rats.
