Abstract
Terrorism and radicalism in Indonesia often raise fundamental questions about Indonesia's sense of Indonesianness. Moreover, the perpetrators are also citizens of Indonesia then it is interesting to be studied more deeply how Indonesian citizens of Indonesia when events that shake the diversity of Indonesia. As destiny becomes a diverse and multicultural Indonesia. The method used in this research is the encoding and decoding of Stuart Hall which attempts to represent the meaning of “menjadi Indonesia” in the three readings of dominant hegemonic, negotiable and opposition. Studies on Islamism and Indonesianness are used to describe interview data. The results showed that Indonesianness strengthened. In the third reading, the informants rejected that their Indonesians were torn apart by the actions of radicalism and terrorism.
